Terror attacks: Nisar foresees problems for Pakistanis abroad

ISLAMABAD: In an apparent reference to the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that recent incidents of terrorism may lead to problems for overseas Pakistanis.
He said in a statement that human trafficking was a major problem after terrorism and directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to submit a report in 48 hours on its efforts to curb the crime.
The minister has convened a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the issue of human smuggling.

He advised the ministry of foreign affairs to prepare a plan to help overseas Pakistanis mistreated in any country.
“Overseas Pakistanis are an asset of the country and it is our responsibility to save them from any unnecessary inconvenience,” he said.
“After terrorists, human smugglers are becoming a source of embarrassment for the country. The FIA should take effective measures to eradicate human trafficking,” Chaudhry Nisar said.
After Friday night’s attack in Paris, French police found a Syrian passport near the body of a terrorist and a debate started in the West about the possibility of involvement of illegal immigrants in terrorist activities and voices are being raised to stop illegal immigration.

No doubt, Pakistanis will be mistreated even they have nothing to do with the terrorist activities but somehow they will create fake reasons to harass them, glad to see Pakistan is taking pro-active approach to help its citizens.

Let not these be usual words Mr. Nisar. Our embassies are slug-ridden resorts for political favourites. They need complete overhaul and infusion of responsibility with accountability. They have enormous tasks to fulfill which the know nothing of. Please see if you can be the one to revolutionise their make-up and worth. Only takes a small effort but big desire and determination to set such things right. Do you or your PML-N have it?

I think it is a rubbish idea because people get beaten on the streets by their appearance and Pakistanis look like any other person of Asean descent, Muslim or otherwise!!

Consulate staff overseas enjoy the most delightful vacations you can ever imagine!
There is no check and balance or any accountability whatsoever on how they treat people in consulates. The ministry of foreign affairs should initiate some monitoring system to support people that send 18 billion Dollar foreign remittances yearly in the country.

There is already enough bias and racism in the west against all non whites but these terrorists are making the lives of the minority very difficult with muslim women being spat on and their headscarves being pulled off in public.

Absolutely true! I am a Pakistani and a frequent traveler.. with my geeen (or should i say BLACK passport) i am harassed at every airport. in poor African countries where i travel i am looked at with suspicion even though my passport is filled with visas and stamps. Effective measure: yes Mr Minister make our consulates and embassies more effective - they should engage with Pakistani community and more importantly with immigration ministries to make sure we are understood. Not all of 190M are terrorists! At the same time get rid of snakes in our backyard so we are trusted and seen as civilized/tolerant/educated people. How annoying, embarrassing, tiring, frustrating it is - please ask overseas Pakistanis!

Before worrying about being mistreated by other countries-i think the minister should improve country's own institutes if he aims to facilitate overseas Pakistanis.
I am a Pakistani living in Malaysia , I applied for my daughter's Passport and the embassy told me that she needs a NICOP before she is eligible for the passport.
It is almost three months that i applied for NICOP and there is no news yet!
The Pakistani high commission says documents have been sent to NADRA and it denies receiving any documents !

During 9/11 our so called Al-Qaida claimed to be responsible for 9/11 attacks, how unfortunate that we destroyed their two buildings and in return they destroyed our two countries( Afghanistan and Iraq)
Now same story is beginning, this Paris attack will effect Millions of Muslims living abroad and in Syria , How shameful these organisations like IS, Al-Qauda, TTP etc are using name of islam

@Niaz Ahmad Sadly it doesn't happen, i live in Dubai and had to go for my passport renewal recently, staff there is of no good use and harass people un-necessarily, it was my first experience of going to the consulate and felt shocked, i thought what image would the foreigner's be getting of our country when they come here to apply for a visa??? I guess my comment doesn't relate to the article but i had to vent out this frustration, this is the story of all of our embassies & consulates abroad.

Remove the VIP facilities provide to the Privilege class at the National Airports.
The embassy staff should be appointed purely on the basis of merit.
There should be complete overhauling of the National Carrier PIA.
All recruitment to the Police should be on the basis that the recruiter has live in the place of police employment for at least 10 years, that way he will have loyalty toward the city he is working in.

Foreign Embassies /consulates are not their to help Pakistanis or provide any support to them or promote Pakistan for business and travel, but to award "diplomatic" status to near n dear of the govt in power.

the biggest problem is our passport... wonder what it represents ... Chaudry nisar at time i think you guys are responsible for this state of sorry affair... Pal our faces are our passport...better yet...I handed my passport to the immigration officer, and he looked at it and looked at me and said, 'What are you?'
