Transmitternot shifted to Abbottabad

Published October 28, 2003

ABBOTTABAD, Oct 27: A high-powered transmitter lying idle at the Mirpur radio station is yet to be brought here despite the directives of the information minister and the National Assembly deputy speaker for upgrading the Abbottabad station.

The transmitter was to be shifted to Radio Pakistan, Abbottabad station, for its upgradation from 250w to 10kw.

Presently, the local transmission is heard over a 5km radius.

The Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation had approved the upgradation of the station six months back when a new transmitter of 100kw was installed at Mirpur and the 10kw transmitter became idle.
