LAHORE: President of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) Anil Khana arrived here on Wednesday from India via Wagah Border and witnessed matches of the ongoing Nayza National Junior Tennis Tournament, currently underway here at Bagh-i-Jinnah.

Anil, who is also vice-president of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) will also visit Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) headquarters in Islamabad and will discuss with the officials concerned about the game’s future in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the tournament continued, reaching semi-finals stage in several categories.

In U-18 girls section, Esha Jawad defeated Nida Akram 6-0, 6-1 to enter the semi-finals.

In men’s singles U-18, Muzammil Murtaza, Barkatullah, Aman Atiq Khan and Hamza bin Asif made the last-four stage. Meanwhile, the final line-up in U-18 men’s doubles and semi-final line-up in U-14 boys was also decided.

U-18 girls quarter-final: Esha Jawad bt Nida Akram 6-0, 6-1.

U-18 men’s quarter-finals: Muzammil Murtaza bt Yousuf Khan 6-4, 7-6; Barkatullah bt Shoaib Khan 6-4, 6-1; Aman Atiq Khan bt Asadullah 6-0, 6-2; Hamza bin Asif bt Saqib Umar 6-3, 6-2.

U-18 men’s doubles quarter-finals: Muzammil Murtaza-Hamza bin Asif bt Saqib Umar-Yousuf Khan 6-1, 3-6, 11-9, Farhanullah-Sakirullah bt Hafiz Arbab-Fahad Ahmed 6-3, 3-6, 10-7; Talha bin Asif-Aman Atiq Khan bt Izhar Iftikhar-Shehryar 6-1, 6-0; Barkatullah-Asadullah bt Asadullah Khan-Khasif Khan 6-0, 6-0.

U-18 men’s doubles semi-finals: Muzammil Murtaza-Hamza bin Asif bt Farhanullah-Shakirullah 6-3, 6-2; Talha bin Asif-Aman Atiq Khan bt Asadullah-Barkatullah 6-2, 6-3, 10-4.

U-14 boys quarter-finals: Shoaib Khan bt Ehtasm Saleem 6-1, 6-2; Ahmed Kamil bt Mohammad Abdullah 6-0, 6-4; Aqib Umar bt Abdullah Adnan 2-6, 6-3, 6-4; Mohammad Said bt Shehryar Sheraz 6-3, 6-0.
