ISLAMABAD: In a significant development on Tuesday, the two main opposition parties — PPP and PTI — decided to sit on opposition benches in the National Assembly and give a tough time to the government.
A PTI delegation headed by Shah Mehmood Qureshi called on Leader of the Opposition Syed Khurshid Shah at the latter’s Parliament House chamber to discuss various options for playing the role of combined opposition.
The two sides, the sources said, had agreed to play an effective role in the parliament and to raise issues jointly from a single platform.
This is for the first time that PTI has shows its willingness to join a combined opposition.

The PTI decided at a meeting of its parliamentary group presided over by Mr Qureshi on Monday to approach the leader of the opposition and discuss the matter of forming joint opposition. At the meeting Mr Qureshi had complained that the PTI was being ignored in setting the agenda of the National Assembly and over the past two and a half years not a single adjournment motion of the party had been included in it.

people fail to understand that this opposition will last only till next elections. PTI did a smart thing. PTi did not have enough numbers for big opposition so this way may be they will be able to put more pressure on gov. People do not understand that its PTI who is taking away votes from PPP so they can not be allies for too long. PMLN and PPP did not allow PTI to get anything passed through NA so now maybe something may get through NA. Something is better than nothing.

Whatever PTI does is still better than PMLN and PPP. These two parties have created government multiple times but all that they achieved was corruption, incompetence and development only in the city of their liking. PTI is still better than these two hypocrite and corrupt parties.

@Philosopher (from Japan) In the comments section of the article where Shafqat Mehmood asked govt. to be more active in parliament you commented that PTI wasn't active there itself. That was because of PMLN government which didn't allow a single adjournment motion to be included. Now PTI is trying to find a new way to be more effective in parliament but you are being sarcastic about it too. A paid troll or a blind PMLN supporter would only do that. And please don't talk about what is best for Pakistan sitting from Japan.

@Faisal I see rigging and confused lots of people who would vote for people who offer them biryanis in the next election as well. Until these two negative aspects change for which we need a bigger change in ECP, I agree that IK would not or rather should not try to become PM of Pakistan. The nation would deserve the Sharif and Zardari families in that case.

PPP opposion leader can not be trusted, they will never play role of real opposion as long as PML-N does not take any action against PPP's corruption cases.
PPP alliance with PTI is related to Asif Hussain & Ayyan Ali cases, they are sending a message to PML-N to watch out.

Does not make sense!! Zardari has just been cleared by NAB when Nawaz is in power which clearly means that there is deal between PPP and PML-N. Now this PPP-PTI alliance is just to fool the public. This country cannot prosper unless we kick the likes of Zardari and Sharif Brothers out.

all of u before use to say that Imran khan should go to parliment to raise issues of public rather than giving dharna. now what option does IK have besides asking PPP opposition leader to work as true opposition with him..remeber PPP has the opposition leader and IK will not be able to raise any issue if PPP is not on board.. so when he is doing politics in parliment , the same people are objecting now. how many of u were out on streets during dharnaa? if not then its very easy to say then to perform..

Well...what I learn from history that you can get help even bad people to perform some constructive or positive task.
PPP , MQM, ANP and PML-N are different names/brand of same drink. PTI should not join them in any govt. , any election (like Speaker of NA, Chairman of Senate) but can shake hands once it come to national interest like War against terrorism , policy making to reform in govt. institutions and play effective opposition.
Once you shake hands to get some benefit is wrong. I don't think PTI can get any benefit by joining common opposition. That's why it is OK for me. I don't see any policy shift or U turn in this.

PTI walaz, cool it off guys. PTI has just decided to play its constitutional role by becoming active in the parliament. Nothing is wrong in that. PPP has after all more mandate given by the people than the PTI in national assembly. Chill!
