Boards to supervise works in Haripur

Published October 30, 2003

HARIPUR, Oct 29: The district Nazim of Haripur, Dr Raja Amer Zaman, has asked the union Nazims and councilors to mobilize social workers in their respective areas for formation of Community Citizen Boards (CCBs) so that the goal of development in less-developed areas be upgraded with active participation of the people.

He  was speaking to the participants of a meeting  at Sikandarpur here on Monday evening. He said that 25 per cent of the district budget had already been allocated for uplift schemes, which would only be recommended and executed under the supervision of boards’ members.

Mr Zaman said owing to limited resources of the district, the onus was now on the communities and elected councilors to fill the gap. He also promised to release funds for the carpeting of Gujar Mohra Road.
