SARGODHA: Governor Rafique Rajwana felt no qualm about expressing his helplessness to set up a high court bench in Sargodha on Tuesday.
At a reception by the Sargodha District Bar Association, Mr Rajwana said he would plead lawyers’ case regarding the bench to the Punjab government but he himself had no power to announce any such development.
He said he being the representative of the federal government could not interfere in the affairs of the Punjab government.
The governor invited a bar delegation to Lahore.
He was also hesitant to announce any package or measure for lawyers, when a group of lawyers asked him to announce something for their welfare.
Earlier, bar president Arshad Hinjra said public representatives from the area and the Punjab government functionaries had assured them of a high court bench in Sargodha. If the promise was not realised, they would launch a drive till the acceptance of their demand.
He said the chief minister should solve the problems of people instead of compounding them at the stance of his cronies who had already created problems for the government by killing innocent people in Model Town.
The governor met several delegations and also addressed a meeting of PML-N workers.
