LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid said on Sunday it won 25 seats in district Bahawalpur despite the ruling candidates’ “adverse tactics”.

According to ‘Q’ MNA Tariq Bashir Cheema, the party won seats of chairman, vice chairmen and general councillors.

“The seats include 11 of union councils, eight municipal committee in Yazman Mandi and six in Hasilpur,” Mr Cheema said.

He said the voters in the district had expressed their full confidence in the leadership of Chaudhry Shujaat Husain, Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi.

“Our party workers have not only defeated N-League candidates but also the Punjab government, civil administration and police,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervaiz Elahi felicitated the winning candidates of the PML-Q in the third phase of local polls and condemned the killing of a nephew of former Punjab minister Basharat Raja and demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
