KOHAT: A man and a woman were killed while nine others were injured when a passenger coach and a car collided head-on near toll plaza on the Indus Highway here on Monday.

The police said that the passenger coach was going to Peshawar from Lakki Marwat. They said eleven persons were injured in the accident, who were shifted to the KDA divisional headquarters hospital. However, two passengers namely Naray Bibi and Irfan Khan, belonging to Mohmand Agency, succumbed to their wounds at the hospital.

The other injured were named Ms Zeema, Ms Roshan, Sameena Bibi, Vaqay Ahmed, Zahid and Ahmed, residents of Mohmand Agency, and Yaqoob and Kareem belonging to Lakki Mrwat. The police after impounding both the vehicles registered a case against the drivers.

Meanwhile, two persons were shot dead in Dhoda and the Afghan refugee camp here on Monday. They were identified as Niaz Mohammad and Mohammad Wali. The bodies were shifted to the women and children hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to their families. Separately, the police during a search operation in various localities arrested 19 suspects and seized illegal weapons from their possession.

The seizure included a Kalashnikov, two rifles, three shotguns, and six pistols.

Also in the day, the police arrested two Afghan refugees for carrying a number of fake Afghan identity cards. They were identified as Jumma Din and Nizamuddin who were locked-up after registration of case against them.
