BAHAWALPUR, Oct 31: The district-level elections of the PML-Q held here on Oct 26 (Sunday) under the supervision of a provincial minister were illegal, alleged PML media committee chairman Syed Tabish Alwari.

Speaking at a press conference at his residence on Thursday, Mr Alwari, who had lost the presidentship of his party, alleged that the proceedings of the PML’s re-organization at Bahawalpur circuit house were unconstitutional and impartial.

He pointed out that Punjab Excise and Taxation Minister Dr Muhammad Shafiq was not authorized to supervise the proceedings. Only the re-organization committee, headed by MNA Syed Tasneem Nawaz Gardezi, was authorized to formulate its recommendations.

He said the announcement of the office-bearers by the excise minister had created rift among the PML workers. A majority of the party workers boycotted the proceedings.

He demanded the PML high command that it should constitute a committee to probe the issue and hold fresh elections.
