RAWALPINDI: A young student was killed after being hit by a passenger train near Mareer Railway Bridge on Tuesday, police said.

According to Rescue 1122,Jamshaid Khan, 23, son of a railway employee, was taking a ‘selfie’ with his cell phone in front of the train on railway track, when the train hit him.

He was on his way to a vocational institute to submit his admission forms. The passenger train was coming from Lahore to Rawalpindi.

The injured was shifted to the district headquarters hospital by the railway police where he was pronounced dead.

After the young man was hit, the train was stopped by the police on duty on the train, who also took Jamshaid to the hospital where he later died.

Later the body of the victim was handed over to his parents by the police after the postmortem.
