NEW DELHI: All 10 people on board an Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) aircraft which crashed near Delhi airport Tuesday morning are dead, Minister of State Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said.

Sharma told Asian News International (ANI) that the 10-seater plane crashed during take off.

Earlier, BSF sources told ANI that around 5-7 people were on board the plane.

The flight was carrying paramilitary technicians, Press Trust of India said, citing BSF sources.

The plane took off for Ranchi this morning in foggy conditions and crashed in Badpola village in Dwarka around 9:50am, moments after technicians lost contact with ground control, NDTV reported.

The reasons behind the crash will be ascertained after a probe, Mahesh Sharma said.

The aircraft first crashed into a wall and then a septic tank, catching on fire. The blaze was extinguished.

There were 15 fire engines at the site of the crash. A crowd gathered at the site of the crash, which had been cordoned off.
