KOHAT: Police arrested 90 suspected persons, including three proclaimed offenders, during a special operation here on Monday.

The police also rounded up four illegally staying Afghans and nine tenants for not submitting their bio-data with the concerned police station. Besides, a huge quantity of weapons and drugs were seized.

The three proclaimed offenders wanted in murder and attempted murder cases were identified as Mohammad Arif of Lachi tehsil, Bori Khan and Mohammad Aqil of Shakardarra Town.

The police also rounded up two persons, Mohammad Qasim and Sher Gul of Muhammadzai village for providing shelter to an alleged murderer.

The seized weapons included four Kalashnikovs, five rifles, five shotguns, 18 pistols, thousands of cartridges and a huge quantity of hashish, heroin and opium.

ROBBERS STRIKE: Robbers on Monday deprived two people of their motorcycles and cash on gunpoint.

Police said Shah Fahad was going home on his motorcycle on the deserted Sheikhan road when armed men stopped him and snatched the bike, Rs2,200, a mobile set and a silver locket from him. The Saddar police registered a case on his complaint and initiated investigations.

In another incident, unknown robbers took away the motorcycle of Abdur Rauf from the parking lot of a marriage hall near Shandi station. The city police registered a case and launched investigations.

GAMBLERS HELD: The police on Monday arrested 40 gamblers separately for organising birds’ fights, and seized Rs100,000 stake money. The police during a raid at the hujra of Syed Zubair Shah arrested 33 people for organising a rooster fight and seized Rs53,000 bet money and two birds worth Rs150,000. In Muslimabad area, the police arrested seven people for organising a birds’ fight, seized stake money of Rs51,060, six mobile phones and six partridges.
