KHAIRPUR, Nov 2: Two persons were killed and 14 injured when a passenger wagon overturned at the National Highway near Gadeji on Sunday.

The accident occurred when the driver, in his attempt to save a motorcyclist, lost control of the wagon which overturned resulting in the instantaneous death of the driver, Lal Bakhsh, 36, and a passenger, Ali Khan, 40.

The motorcyclist, Zahoor Ahmed Sehto, and 13 passengers, including Ghulam Hussain, Dhani Bakhsh Solangi, Asadullah Jatoi, Imtiaz Manganhar, Mohammad Rafiq, Yousuf Jatoi and Zulfiqar Ali Mirani were injured. Those injured have been shift to the Civil Hospital, Khairpur.

CLASH: Three persons were injured in a clash between Burdi and Bhutta tribesmen over the possession of a plot near Noor Mohammad Burdi village, Khairpur district, on Saturday night.

The injured were identified as Bakhsh Ali, Sachal and Riaz.

Case: The SHO, Ahmedpur police station, Khairpur district, has registered a case against 14 persons at the Lakhi Ghulam Shah police station for the killing of a police constable and wounding of the Taluka police officer, Keti Pir Pagaro.

Three days ago, PC Amanullah Shar was killed and the TPO injured during an encounter with the accused following the kidnapping of three villagers of Qaimuddin Odho.

Sain Dino, Meer, Allah Dino, residents of Wago Shah; Jami Khan and Haji Peeral Shah as well as nine unknown persons were nominated in the FIR. So far, the Lakhi police have arrested two suspects.

Meanwhile, the district Nazim, Khairpur, Nafisa Shah, wrote a letter to the inspector general of police, Sindh, on Oct 31, complaining about the dismal performance of the district police in maintaining law and order.
