ABBOTTABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project will generate greater economic activity in the country, particularly in Hazara division.

He was speaking at a function on the occasion of 35th death anniversary of freedom movement leader Jalaluddin alias Jalal Baba here the other day.

The governor said that Hazara would be the main beneficiary of corridor project, and added that the government would have to prepare to cope with the enhanced economic activity that the project would generate.

Sardar Mahtab said that the country was facing internal and external enemies, and the nation would have to act in unison to foil the enemies’ designs.

He said that the government and the nation were bound to recognise the services of all those leaders whose contributions and sacrifices had made possible creation of Pakistan.

While paying tribute to Jalal Baba, the governor said that it was due to his struggle that Hazara and the then NWFP voted to join Pakistan during the referendum.

He directed the vice-chancellor of Hazara University to create a chair in the name of Jalal Baba at the varsity. Mr Mahtab said ‘great vision’ of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had put the country’s economy on the right track.

CONCERN AT NEW TRAFFIC PLAN: Local residents, including traders, have showed deep concern over the new traffic plan introduced by the district administration for Abbottabad city, and demanded its withdrawal.

They said the district administration had made some inner city roads one-way, which irked the residents of Kehal, Kunj, Karimpura, Aram Bagh, Shiekhul Bandi, Malik Pura and other areas instead of solving the traffic problem. They said the commuters were forced to use long routes to reach their destinations, which resulted in waste of more time and money. They demanded of the administration to withdraw the new traffic plan and restore the old system to facilitate easy movement in the city.
