PESHAWAR/MARDAN: An army soldier and two policemen were injured in two separate blasts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.

The soldier sustained injuries when a remote controlled bomb targeted an army truck on Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway. The army truck was coming to Peshawar from Tarbela when it was targeted with the remote controlled bomb near Duranpur area, according to police officials. They said that one of the solders sustained injuries while the vehicle was partially damaged in the blast. The bomb was placed beneath the median of the road and it was detonated when the army vehicle reached the spot, they said. The bomb weighed about three kilograms, they added.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, 11 soldiers were travelling in the army truck. The injured soldier was shifted to Combined Military Hospital for treatment and FIR was registered at a police station of counter-terrorism department.

In Mardan, two constables of Par Hoti police station were injured when unidentified militants hurled a hand grenade at a police mobile on Mardan-Sawabi Road on Sunday.

Sources told Dawn that the vehicle of Par Hoti police station patrolling the area when it was attacked. They said that as a result of the attack, head constable Faqir Mohammad and constable Mohammad Ali, who was driving the vehicle, received multiple wounds.

Soon after the attack, the personnel of Rescue-1122 rushed to the spot and shifted the injured policemen to Mardan Medical Complex from where the doctors referred Mohammad Ali to Peshawar in precarious condition. Head constable Faqir Mohammad was stated to be out of danger.

Police cordoned off the area and started search for the attackers. The counter-terrorism department registered FIR against unidentified militants and started investigation.
