QUETTA: The Iranian government executed a Pakistani national on Thursday in the Central Jail of Yazd town on drug smuggling charges.
Ibratullah was awarded death sentence after being arrested in Iran three months ago on drug smuggling charges. The man belonged to the Nukondi town in Chagai district of Balochistan.
Family sources confirmed his execution but disputed the claim of Iranian authorities that the man was involved in drug smuggling. They said Ibratullah was implicated in a false drug case.
The family maintained that the body had yet not been handed over to them.

It's eye opener for those who were jumping on toes against the executions in KSA.

I don't see any Pakistanis burning the Iranian embassy in Islamabad. What if we behaved like the Iranians?
Where are all those who were supporting Iran in its protests and irrational reaction to executions in Saudi Arabia, which btw, were Saudi nationals, not Iranians.

Smuggling of contraband drug into Iran is punishable to death. However, it needs to be checked if the accused was accorded sufficient opportunity to defend himself before the court of law.

@sana Why do these countries need to talk to Pakistan first? You enter their land, violate their laws, get convicted and punished according to their laws.
No different than any Iranian who would be meted out similar punishment if caught in Pakistan. It is called 'law of the land'

Our Govt. should demand from both Iranian & Saudi govts. counselor access to Pak nationals facing criminal cases, and ensure that all the appellate courts have been reached.

Indictment and execution in 3 months... Doesn't seem like due process can be achieved in such a small amount of time... I don't trust either KSA or Iran with their justice system. How come they never execute any of their own citizens for using drugs; If these drugs are being smuggled in then there must their own citizens who must be using them?!
