SIALKOT: Daska police on Wednesday arrested a man who confessed to raping his minor daughter on Jan 12.

Arrested suspect Javaid Cheema of Glotiyaan-Daska told police investigators that he had earlier staged the drama of her abduction and rape in order to win sympathies of his in-laws and avoid return of Rs1 million he had borrowed from them.

The suspect said he abducted his seven-year-old daughter, raped her and threw her at a Maallo Mahay village field in a critical condition on Jan 12.

He said earlier he had twice tried to strangle her but she survived the attacks.

According to Lahore General Hospital doctors, the girl is critical.

Police have sent Cheema behind bars and registered a case against him. Earlier, a case was registered against three other suspects on the report of girl’s brother Jamshed.
