LAHORE: A handful workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Thursday staged protest demonstrations under the banner of former PTI Punjab organiser and Insaf Students Federation to condemn the attack on Bacha Khan University.
A few PTI workers led by party’s former organiser Chaudhry Sarwar, Andleeb Abbas and others chanted slogans against militants as well as in favour of security forces at party’s Johar Town office on Thursday.
They offered fateha for the martyrs and dua for the success of army in the war against terrorism.
Speaking to media persons, Mr Sarwar said the implementation of the National Action Plan was gradually eliminating terrorism from the country. He said progress, prosperity and peace could not be achieved in the country until and unless the war against terrorism would be won.
ISF: The Insaf Students Federation staged a peaceful protest demonstration in front of Lahore Press Club to pay a tribute to the martyrs of Bacha Khan University.
ISF leaders including Gulraiz Iqbal, Rana Jahanzeb, Haider Majeed and Abdul Munim Lodhi from different educational institutions participated in the protest.
They were carrying banners and placards bearing inscriptions condemning the militants and terrorism. They said the attacks on educational institutions were highly condemnable.
DUA: The PTI workers led by former Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry recited the Holy Quran and offered dua for the martyrs.
Speaking to the media, Mr Chaudhry said the Charsadda incident was a national tragedy and highly condemnable. He alleged the attack was conducted by Indian secret agency RAW and added that the Pakistani rulers were even afraid of naming India for the attack.
Mr Chaudhry stressed that Pakistan must educate the world that India and Afghanistan were using Pakistani land for terror activities. He regretted the action plan prepared in 2014 was not implemented as the government did not develop schools, hospitals and road infrastructure in Fata. He said the government also failed in sending the IDPs back to their homes.
CORRUPTION: PTI senior leader Dr Yasmin Rashid says the Sharif brothers, who always pretend to take high moral grounds, can’t fool the nation when it comes to corruption. She said the lacuna of stay orders had helped the Sharif brothers get themselves off the hook.
Dr Yasmin sarcastically said the ill-informed chairman of National Accountability Bureau came to know on Wednesday that NAB could not take action against the Sharif brothers because they were hiding behind the stay orders.
“How shameful it is for the third-time prime minister that instead of clearing his name from corruption charges, he and his brother have obtained fresh stay orders to save their skin,” she said.
