Team management should look into poor show in NZ: Shaharyar

LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar M Khan has categorically stated that he will not take any notice of Pakistan’s poor performance in the T20 series against New Zealand which they lost 2-1 in Wellington on Friday and added that it is the team management’s job.
Answering a question by a private TV channel if Shahid Afridi and his players will be taken to task by him after the poor show, the PCB chief quipped: “Why should I do it, it is the job of the team management to sit with the players and to bring improvement in their performance.”
Shaharyar, however, admitted that the performance was not good against New Zealand. “We won the first match in a better way but in next two matches we failed to perform as our bowling, fielding were not up to the mark. Batting also failed in the last match because the target was high.”
He hailed the performance of the host New Zealand team and added they were too good in the fielding area and took hard catches to take the edge. “Our players have to match that level of skill which the Kiwis showed, otherwise, they will not be able win T20 matches,” said Shaharyar.

Let us face it: our cricketing system is churning out mediocre players. The Pak playing elevens are generally the best playing eleven our system has to offer! It is so plain and simple. One can only get a mediocre performance out of a bunch of mediocre player, PREIOD. So we need to acknowledge it and brain-storm to improve our crickets, like the Indians, Bangladeshis, Aussies and English have been doing.

What a statement. Instead of sacking players, he want them to do what they cannot. People like Shaharyar and Sethi have destroyed Pakistan cricket, and similar people have destroyed Pakistan in all fields, be that squash, hockey, economy, policing, education, judiciary ... well, everything in country.
Shaharyar statement shows his incompetency. If he was competent, he would have questioned himself 'Why Pakistani cricket is in such doldrums?' ... He is Chairman of PCB and thus performance and match results of Pakistani team is responsibility and duty of Shaharyar, no one else.
But in country of contacts, connections, relations, nepotism ... where most things move with grease of bribery, favours, corruption, likes/dislikes ... Pakistan would keep having pathetic performance in all fields under the leaderships of incompetent and crook persons.

@SIAK Absolutely right! We keep hearing these nonsensical remarks about the amount of cricketing talent in Pakistan, and we keep deluding ourselves that the only reason we don't do better is this talent is being ignored. This is simple rubbish. The cricketing structure of the country stinks, without adequate grounds, practice facilities, coaches, and a culture that pays absolutely no attention to fielding. The rest of the world has moved ahead, and I'm afraid that one is going to see the Pakistan team being regularly thrashed in international tournaments. Get used to it.

Need to get rid of Intikhab Alam. He has been nothing but trouble for pakistani team. It was during his time that three pakistani players went to jail for match fixing. Nothing happened to him. Who is shielding him.
He is over 80 years old. During his time the game of cricket was different. It is different now. He needs to graciously leave the game of cricket.
