KOHAT: District police officer Mohammad Sohaib Ashraf has warned that no leniency will be shown to the policemen and managements of educational institutions with regard to security.
He said that following the terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, security of educational institutions and other departments had been beefed up in Kohat.
Addressing a meeting of circle police officers at his office on Sunday, he asked all the sub-divisional police officers to ensure security arrangements at all educational institutions and sensitive establishments in their respective areas.
The DPO directed the DSPs and SHOs to conduct security audit of educational institutions. He said that police had been put on high alert at the entry and exit points of the city. He said that orders had also been issued to check all vehicles, including motorcycles.
He said that additional police checkposts had been established besides increasing patrolling on routes of various educational institutions. He said that all SHOs in the district had been asked to visit the schools and colleges to check security arrangements.
Mr Ahsraf said that police had also started a search operation in areas surrounding the educational institutions.
ANTI-ENCROACHMENT DRIVE: The district administration carried out an operation against encroachments on Sunday to improve drainage system and restore the old state of main city drain on Kohat-Rawalpindi Road.
Assistant commissioner Mohammad Omair supervised the operation to remove big constructions along the main drain and excavation of its sides. A number of sheds and cabins were also removed along with slopes of the drain.
Mr Omair told mediapersons that operation against encroachments in the district was continuing successfully. Tehsil municipal administration workers, its anti-encroachment staff and heavy contingent of police took part in the operation. Heavy machinery was used and sheds and cabins along with slopes and other encroachments near the drain were demolished.
