ISLAMABAD: Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, senior puisne judge of Supreme Court, took the oath as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan on Thursday.
The oath was administered by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa at a simple ceremony held in the Supreme Court.
Justice Nisar will act as the chief justice for the period Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali remains abroad.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by judges of the Supreme Court, senior lawyers and officers of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan.
Supreme Court Registrar Arbab Muhammad Arif conducted proceedings of the oath-taking ceremony.
