PESHAWAR, Nov 7: A two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court on Friday sought comments from the Mardan district coordination officer (DCO) in a writ petition challenging the selling of petrol at 33 kerosene oil outlets in the district.

The bench comprising Justice Tariq Pervez and Justice Fazalur Rehman Khan observed that the court would further proceed with the petition after the DCO had furnished his comments.

The petition was filed by owners of eight filling stations of district Mardan, stating that the said 33 kerosene outlets had been illegally dealing in business of other petroleum products.

The petitioners requested the court that the selling of petrol by different stations should be declared illegal, arguing that under the law the 33 stations had no legal authority to sell petrol.

They stated that they had lodged an application with the district administration of Mardan as a result of which the DCO cancelled the permission given to them for selling other petroleum products.

However, the petitioners added, now the district coordination officer had again permitted them to deal in other petroleum products apart from kerosene oil.
