LAHORE: A lawyer filed a petition in the Lahore High Court on Saturday against private airlines for their ‘exorbitant’ fares in the wake of a strike by employees of Pakistan International Airline (PIA).

Advocate Imran Ghumman states in his petition that the airlines have increased their fares up to 300 per cent to take advantage of the crisis situation as operations of the national flag carrier is suspended due to the strike.

The lawyer alleges that private airlines have been fanning the protests of the PIA’s employees to fulfill their ulterior motives. He says the passengers are forced to travel on ridiculously exorbitant fares of the private airlines.

The petitioner prays to the court to order the Civil Aviation Authority to take action against all private airlines and rationalize their fares.
