QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri has said that all assistance will be provided to revive the Pasni Fish Harbour (PFH).

“Government will take concrete steps for the development of the fishery sector and for the welfare of fishermen community,” he said. He was presiding over a meeting which reviewed progress on the rehabilitation of Pasni Fish Harbour here on Friday.

Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattah, Additional ACS Nasibullah Bazai, secretaries of fisheries and finance departments and other officials attended the meeting.

Secretary of fisheries department Arshad Bugti briefed the meeting about the efforts made for the rehabilitation of PFH.

Chief Minister Zehri said that the PFH was of utmost significance in providing jobs to fishermen and export of fish from Balochistan. However, he noted that owing to lack of dredging and other issues, the harbour had remained dysfunctional for long.

He directed the authorities concerned to help revive the PFH as soon as possible, adding that the projects funded by Japan for the rehabilitation of PFH should be implemented within the stipulated time.

“Government will provide every possible assistance and support for the timely restoration of the harbour,” the chief minister said.
