KARACHI: As many as twenty five teams from thirteen educational institution in Karachi will be taking part in the Peek Freans Gluco Inter-school Tennis Tournament which will be hosted at the Karachi Gymkhana tennis courts from February 20-28, the organisers Perfect Strokes announced on Tuesday.

The tournament, which is a weekend-only feature, will see the teams divided into two age categories - under 15 and under 16 to 18 - where they will be challenged in two singles and one doubles match each.

The participating institutions include Bay View Academy, Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS), Karachi Grammar School, Foundation Public School, Karachi American School, Lyceum, Nixor College, Bay View College, Cedar College, Ali Public School, Citizen Public School, Beacon House and Bahria College.

The tournament is organized by Razia Babar and Nabil Hoodbhoy of Perfect Strokes as part of their school initiative program to promote tennis at grass root level, while also providing a platform for fostering competitiveness and team spirit among youth. The initiative also aims to engage youth in healthy weekend activities.

Speaking of the initiative, Zulfiqar Ali Ansari said: “The aim is to provide the aspiring youth of the country with a platform to achieve. Tennis being a game of great strength and discipline gives our youth the go getter platform to encourage a healthier and more balanced lifestyle which has been a constant effort of Peek Freans Gluco throughout its journey.”
