KOHAT: Deputy commissioner, Kohat, Zahir Shah Mohmand has asked all the relevant departments to ensure implementation of the dengue contingency plan constituted to control the disease.

Chairing a meeting at his office on Friday, he notified dengue control committee, district control room, rapid response committees in Lachi and Kohat tehsils and an awareness committee. The dengue control committee will work under the supervision of deputy commissioner, district nazim, district health officer and chief executive of the cantonment board.

The rapid response forces of Lachi and Kohat would comprise tehsil nazims, tehsil municipal officers, project director KDA and district health department.

The awareness committee would be headed by district nazim, while its members would be tehsil nazims, district health officer and district education officers. The DC told the meeting that all heads of educational institutions should be asked to organise dengue awareness seminars.

ARRESTED: The police arrested 15 suspects during a search operation in KDA Town here on Friday.

DPO Mohammad Sohaib said in a statement that quick response force, APCs and vehicles fitted with automatic guns took part in the operation, which was conducted following intelligence information about presence of suspected persons in the area.

The suspects were taken to KDA police station for interrogation.
