RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) celebrated its 20th Raising Day at its headquarters on Sunday.

According to a press release, the event, including an annual performance award distribution ceremony, was attended by former directors general of the force, diplomats and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

The day started by paying tribute to ANF personnel killed in the line of duty. A wreath laying ceremony was held at a Martyrs Monument.

The ceremony, also attended by relatives of slain ANF staffers, included a salute presented by all participants and a collective prayer.

ANF Director General Maj Gen Nasir Dilawar Shah thanked the participants and told them about performance of the force, particularly achievements it had made in 2015 -- a record year for the ANF-- challenges, recent initiatives, training aspects, technical improvements and upgrading plans.

Former DG retired Lt Gen Mushtaq Hussain praised continued efforts put in by the force since its inception. He said the ANF should keep up as a firm, righteous and lawful force.

In view of the drug threat scenario, he called for unified efforts and modernisation of force.

Mr Hussain gave away awards for best performance in operations, training, prosecution, investigation, intelligence, treatment and awareness and to the best regional directorate and police station.
