KHAIRPUR, Nov 9: The irrigation staff sealed three illegal watercourses, plugged 30 cuts and removed 20 pipes inserted in Ali Nawaz Wah near Thari Mirwah on Sunday.

The actions were taken during the visit of the waterway from RD-55 to 61 by the executive engineer, irrigation, Khairpur, accompanied by his staff and the taluka police officer, Thari Mirwah.

Later, the SDO, irrigation, Faiz Ganj, lodged a water theft case against a People’s Party Parliamentarian-backed union council Nazim under sections 61 and 62 of the Irrigation Act.

SHO suspended: The district police officer on Saturday suspended SHO, Ranipur police station, Ghulam Shabbir Jamali, on the complaint of the Sajjada Nashin of the shrine of Sachal Sarmast.

Inspector Faiz Mohammad Mithani has been appointed the new SHO.

LOADSHEDDING: Tailors of different towns of the district are facing difficulties due to unscheduled loadshedding by Hesco.

Talking to journalists in Khuhra on Sunday, the tailors complained that they were able to sewing only three suits a day due to power failure.

They said they were facing pressure from their customers in the wake of Eid.

They alleged Hesco officials were exercising an engineered loadshedding in the Eid season.

POWER CUT: Hesco officials disconnected power supply to at least 20 villages of Kot Diji taluka on the pretext of non- payment of bills.

The villages included Malheel Rajpar, Bangul Chandio, Ahmedabad, Khair Mohammad Pato, Neebaho Rajpar, Khanyari Bhair, Bakho Lashari, Khair Mohammad Soomro, Moharram Ali, Qalandar Bukhsh Burdi and others.

Man injured: A man, Rab Nawaz, was injured by three armed men in Abdullah Narejo village in the jurisdiction of Ahmedpur police station.

The police have registered a case against Ghulam Jagirani and Nooro Jagirani on the complaint of Mustafa Narejo.

SALARY STOPPED: The taluka Nazim, Kot Diji, stopped salary of two sub-engineers and one accountant of the taluka council for remaining absent from duties.

The officers were also issued show-cause notices.
