MANSEHRA: Local PTI leader Ambreen Swati has threatened to begin agitation against the administration of the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, over the alleged embezzlement of funds.

Ms Ambreen, who is the president of the PTI, Mansehra, women wing, told reporters here that the AMC administration had embezzled funds meant for the repair of faulty dialysis machines.

“The Ayub Medical Complex is the only hospital in Hazara, where dialysis service is available, but its machines often remain out-of-order to the misery of patients in Hazara,” she said.

The disgruntled PTI leader said her mother suffered from kidney failure and was on dialysis but whenever she went to the AMC, the paramedics told her that the dialysis machine didn’t work.

“Sometimes, the staff puts patients on dialysis at faulty machines, which deteriorate their health,” she said.

Ms Ambreen said she was in politics to serve the people so she would take to the streets if the administration didn’t repair faulty machines, and spared the people involved in the funds embezzlement.

“This is the only hospital in Hazara with dialysis facility but the patients are turned away without dialysis complicating their condition,” she said.

The PTI leader said the chief minister should take notice of the matter without delay for necessary action. She said she thought the PTI government, which acclaimed to have turned around patient care at hospitals in the province, should come forward and save the poor patients from the AMC administration,” she said.

QWP delighted at poll win

District naib nazim Ghulam Murtaza Tanoli, of the Qaumi Watan Party, on Monday said the win of two district councillors in the local government by-elections strengthened the PML-N-led district government in Mansehra.

“Though the PTI did its best to destabilise our coalition government in the district since its installation last year but the people reposed confidence in the alliance between the PML-N and QWP. As a result, our joint contenders won two district council seats in the by-elections,” Mr. Tanoli told reporters in Oghi.

He said by-elections were held in two union councils, Hilkot and Khattai and both were secured by the ruling alliance in the district.

“We hope following our win in two more union councils, the PTI would not create problem for our coalition government,” he said.
