CHARSADDA: Seasoned politician and former federal minister, Lala Nisar Mohammad Khan, passed away here on Tuesday after suffering cardiac arrest. He was 86.

His funeral prayers were held in Sheikhabad locality attended by people from all walks of life, including local politicians, well-wishers and friends. He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard later in the day.

The deceased was the father of PTI’s former provincial organiser Fazal Mohammad Khan, former Charsadda district nazim Naseer Mohammad Khan, and former MPA Saeed Mohammad Khan. He was born to Yar Mohammad Khan of Charsadda, a staunch supporter of Surkhpush Tehreek in 1929.

He went for higher education to England in 1955 after passing his FA from historical Islamia College Peshawar. He did his graduation from England in 1960.

Nisar Mohammad Khan, being the minister for railways, introduced drastic reforms to improve performance of the Pakistan Railways. The veteran politician was elected MNA in the 1985 non-party elections. He was also elected to the Senate of Pakistan.
