GWADAR: A two-day exhibition of the work of Hafeez Gohar Jee, a young, talented but unnoticed artist of Balochistan, was held recently in the Turbat University’s public library.

The exhibition was organised by a non-governmental organisation in collaboration with the university’s Balochi literature department.

While inaugurating the exhibition, Turbat University’s Vice Chancellor Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir lauded the work of Gohar Jee.

He said the exhibition had proved that the people of Makran region were second to none in the arena of art and craft. He said efforts would be made to establish a fine arts department in the university.

Appreciating the work of Gohar Jee, pro-vice-chancellor Dr Abdul Saboor Baloch said that the creative artist had played with colours and gave vent to his imagination for depicting the Baloch society, culture and heritage, adding that he used shades and symbols professionally.

People from all walks of life and students from other educational institutions visited the exhibition and showed their keen interest in different kinds of sophisticated and supremely inspiring paintings made by Gohar Jee.

The exhibition showcased around a hundred paintings and landscape of different kinds. The displayed work ranged from rhetorical, calligraphic and landscapes to abstract and expressionist paintings.

The aim of the exhibition was to demonstrate the society, culture and heritage of Balochistan. The exhibition was like a little festival of art and skills, offering a broad range of effects for people from all age groups, tastes and tradition.
