KARACHI: A judicial magistrate granted on Friday bail to a political graffiti campaigner a day after he was detained for entering the so-called high-security zone on a tractor-trolley filled with garbage in an attempt to dump the garbage outside Chief Minister House.

Alamgir Khan — who runs a social media campaign called ‘Fix it’ by spray-painting political graffiti and portraits of the Sindh chief minister on roads near open manholes — and tractor-trolley driver Saifullah were produced by the Civil Lines police in court.

While observing that the offence in which the suspects had been booked was bailable, judicial magistrate (south) Kaleemullah Kalwar granted them bail against a surety bond of Rs5,000 each.

The activist and the driver were booked under Section 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Pakistan Penal Code, which carries a maximum punishment of one month imprisonment or Rs500 fine.
