ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has taken notice of a complaint against federal Information Minister Pervez Rashid, filed by a television anchor who claims the minister threatened him on air.
Dr Shahid Masood, who hosts a political talk show on a private TV channel, maintained in the complaint that the information minister threatened him in a speech aired on public and private TV channels.
“The complaint has been referred to Pemra Council of Complaints for further action,” a Pemra spokesman said in a statement released Sunday.

“These comments, which went on air in the absence of a time-delaying mechanism and lack of editorial control by certain TV channels, have hurt the feelings of Dr. Shahid Masood.”
Masood claims the information minister’s remarks were an attempt to damage his reputation and credibility across the globe.
He said people from all over the world expressed concern after the information minister’s “threats” went on air. He requested Pemra to take action against the minister per the regulatory body’s laws.
Rashid, in his speech, had said Masood issued a warning to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar about his imminent arrest at least ‘10 times during his show on ARY News.’
The information minister in his speech had demanded that the channel force Masood to explain his remarks and present relevant evidence.

So Pemra issue notice and when mqm do this, they have FIR all over the Pakistan. Mockery of PMLN and people continued fog double standard.

PEMRA should act as a body that is alive, vigilant and observant. There is too much going on under its nose that needs disciplining. Dramas crossing the limits of morality, talk shows being run as some live natter going on a bus station, too much indianization of Pakistani media being a few things that need PEMRA's action.

Dr. Shahid Masood, the way talk like enemy of Pakistan meaningless and not care that he does talk all about, this is just goes against our beloved country of Pakistan and absolutely without any beneficial/productive . better to stop him (Dr. Shahid Masood) to discuss (which goes in favor of enemy of Pakistan) on any channel .

Now he has be fooled PEMRA. This gentleman tells so many lies on TV that nobody believes,but he goes on shifting from one channel to another. He should be stopped by Pemra rather accepting his complaint.

If an MQM leader says something any tom and harry registers an FIR immediately whereas Shahid Masood a prominent anchor gets a threat does not turn to law for registering FIR rather he requests PEMRA to see the matter. Shahid Masood should have registered FIR if he is sincere and honest in his unbiased opinion.

@Merchant and what about Shahid Masood who always narrate negative propaganda without proofs. Isn't is called arrogance if you continue putting untrue claims? I still remember his dramatic stories of two sisters from Lal Masjid which were completely false. I feel such people deserve arrogant response.

Dr. Shahid Masood is best watched program in Pakistan and abroad. He is true patriot Pakistani and is voice of Pakistan. Inspite of good relations with political personalities he never hesitate to bring their ills out any time any where, which is rare in Pakistan. Keep it up Shahid Masood.

It is habit of our Information minister to declare those opposing his view points as enemies of Pakistan and he did so in PIA privatisation matter. It was his startling remarks that incited PIA employees to go on rampage and flight operation got disrupted. Patience, restraint. composure and mellowness are the striking features of a democratic system and those associated with it. If a democratic mind thinks autocratically and resorts to intimidation and violence against a citizen for no obvious reason, then say adieu to such a democracy.
