LAHORE: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq taunted JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman by saying that the religious leader mostly speaks double entendre.
“Maulana Saheb is a good speaker and mostly he uses words having dual meanings,” Mr Sadiq told a reporter while inaugurating a water supply project in Samanabad here on Wednesday.
He had been asked to comment on the JUI-F leader’s claim that though he could not get votes in elections, he had the ability to make or break a government.
“Only Allah the Almighty enjoys the authority to make or break a government,” the speaker said.
Replying to a question, he denied that the law governing the working of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was being amended. However, he said it could be changed if both the government and the opposition wished so.
About reports that the NAB was probing various cases in Punjab, he said the bureau was investigating various cases in all parts of the country and that the probe did not mean that any irregularity had been proved.
