KARACHI: Two of the thousands of protesters booked for the misuse of loudspeakers and use of abusive language against government institutions and personalities during the pro-Qadri protests were detained on Saturday, police said.

The officials added that Arshad and Imran were arrested while more raids were under way to pick up other suspects nominated in an FIR (72/2016).

Soldier Bazaar SHO Irshad Soomro said the police had registered the FIR on behalf of the state against Arshad, Imran, Anjum Attari, Saqib Noorani and Sohail Qadri and around 7,000 others.

The officer said the case had been registered under Sections 47, 48, 49, 341 and 155-A of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Loudspeaker’s Act.

The suspects misused loudspeakers during a sit-in staged at the Numaish traffic intersection in protest against the execution of Mumtaz Qadri.
