KOHAT: Three people, including a child, were killed while seven others were injured in separate incidents across Kohat on Monday.

In Kachai area on Hangu road, Hussain Ali killed his brother-in-law over a family feud and escaped the scene. The Ustarzai police registered a case against the accused on the report of uncle of the deceased.

Separately, an over-speeding passenger van coming to Kohat from Karak hit and killed a six-year-old child identified as Haroon on the Indus Highway. The boy was from Muslimabad. The Jarma police filed a case against the driver and started efforts to arrest him.

Similarly, a head-on collision between two vans on Rawalpindi road in Gumbat claimed life of Imran Khan, while four passengers were injured. Drivers Ashraf Din and Ayaz were arrested in injured condition. The Gumbat police impounded both the vehicles and lodged an FIR. Meanwhile, in Dheri Banda area, Shahid Khan and Nauman injured their neighbour Noor Wahab over a children’s fight. The city police filed the case.

‘CRIMINAL’ ARRESTED: The cantonment police on Monday arrested a ‘hardened criminal’ involved in extortion, fraud and snatchings at gunpoint and recovered the booty from him.

Police said that on a tip-off given by a resident of Orakzai Agency that a man had snatched mobile phone and cash from him at gunpoint near the Aaskari plaza, the personnel chased the accused and apprehended him. He was identified as Shafiullah Khan, resident of Bannu. The police seized the stolen mobile phone and Rs63,000 from him.

The cantonment police also got his physical remand from the court and shifted him to prison.
