QUETTA: Two Security personnel and six suspected militants were reported killed during an armed clash in Balochistan’s Sibi district on Wednesday.

The spokesman of Balochistan government, Anwar ul Haq Kakar, said security forces killed six suspects including an alleged militant commander during an operation in Sibi district.

Addressing a press conference at Chief Minister's Secretariat, Kakar said the deceased commander was identified as Aslam alias Acho.

“Aslam alias Acho has reportedly been involved in a series of terrorist activities,” Kakar added.

Security forces recovered weapons and explosives from the possession of the suspected militants, a security official told Dawn News.

The deceased suspects belonged to the banned militant organisations, claimed the official.

Bodies of the slain security personnel were brought back to Quetta Cantonment, with their funeral prayers attended by Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Amir Riaz and other high ranking officials.

Security forces have intensified their actions in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan after the announcement of National Action Plan to combat terrorism in the country.
