LAHORE: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reached here from Karachi on Thursday to meet Shahbaz Taseer who was rescued over four years after his abduction in 2011.

Bilawal who is also a close friend of Shahbaz reached here by a helicopter at Lahore’s old airport and went to the house of Taseers at Cavalry Ground. He spent a few hours with Shahbaz and his other family members before leaving for Bilawal House in Lahore.

Mr Bilawal had expressed his delight on Shahbaz’s safe recovery.

“Mr Bilawal spared time from his engagements and arrived Lahore to see his friend,” a PPP leader told Dawn.

He said Bilawal would spend night at Bilawal House and on Friday (today) morning he would leave for Islamabad to attend an important party meeting.

The PPP media wing also released a photograph in which Bilawal is shown sharing happy moments with the Taseers.

Shahbaz, son of slain governor Salmaan Taseer, was recovered from a hotel on the outskirts of Kuchlak town, some 25km off Quetta, on Tuesday and taken to Quetta Cantt. He underwent a medical check-up and was kept at an army mess before being flown to Lahore.

Young Taseer was kidnapped by unidentified men in August 2011 in Lahore’s Gulberg area. He was driving towards the offices of the First Capital Group off MM Alam Road in Gulberg when he was intercepted by the kidnappers.
