KARACHI: Former chief minister of Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch on Saturday held former president Pervez Musharraf responsible for unrest in Balochistan and said that he must face the trial.

Dr Malik of the National Party, who served as the chief minister of Balochistan from June 2013 to December 2015, was speaking to lawyers of the Karachi Bar Association in the city courts.

He was of the view that the sad tale of dead bodies and violence in Balochistan had been checked to around 90 per cent during recent years and lauded the role of armed and civil forces, adding that though the situation now was not ideal, it was much better than before.

He said that the federal government still had a lot more to do for the betterment of the people of Balochistan who had been neglected for decades.

“Sui supplies gas to the whole country, but the district itself is deprived of the utility,” Dr Malik said and added the province should be given an equal share in businesses and taxes.

The democratic forces after an arduous struggle had brought the 18th amendment to the Constitution and it would be safeguarded, he concluded.
