KHUZDAR: Dozens of mud houses, a government school and several office buildings were badly damaged by an earthquake which hit Naal area of Khuzdar on Monday night. Some 40 farm animals which included goats and sheep also died.

Obaidullah Qalandrani, a member of the District Council Khuzdar, told Dawn on Tuesday that a quake with 5.1 intensity struck Naal and Parko areas.

Though no casualty was reported from any of the areas, people erected tents and moved into them on account of fragility of their mud houses.

Kalat Division Commissioner Dr Mohammad Akbar Harifal confirmed reports about the damage to houses and livestock in Naal tehsil.

“Teams have been dispatched to the affected areas to conduct a survey of the damage,” he said adding that the Provincial Disaster Management Authority had also been informed about the quake.
