ISLAMABAD: Over two maunds of dead birds’ meat and 50 dead chickens were seized during a raid by the police and the capital administration on Tuesday.

Capital administration officials said the raid was carried out following a tip received by the capital administration, regarding a man who sold dead chickens at Chongi No. 26 in Golra. Magistrate Abdul Hadi, along with his team and the police, raided the man’s shop.

They said the man was spotted slaughtering an already dead chicken, while a heap of chicken meat was found by him. A number of dead chickens were also found in two pickup trucks parked near his shop.

Upon inquiry it was revealed that the man was slaughtering dead chickens and then selling the meat. Official said that the accused revealed that a number of chickens died while being brought from parts of Punjab to Islamabad.

They said the driver of the vehicles sold the dead chickens to him, which he brought back to his shop where they were slaughtered.

However, the man refused to identify those who had purchased chicken meat from him.

Chicken samples were taken to be tested, as evidence, officials added.
