GWADAR: The Senate of Turbat University met here on Wednesday with Governor of Balochistan and the varsity’s chancellor, Mohammad Khan Achakzai, in the chair.

The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor Dr Abdul Razzaque Sabir, pro vice chancellor Dr Abdul Saboor Baloch, former federal minister for education Zubaida Jalal, Uthal university’s former vice chancellor Dr Abdul Hameed Bajwi, finance secretary Shai Haq Baloch, the university’s acting registrar Dr Hanif Rahman and finance director Ghulam Farooq.

The senate discussed the issue of affiliation with different degree-awarding institutions in the Makran division and regularisation of lecturers and assistant professors in different departments.Matters relating to academic development, finance and planning, rules and regulations for the appointment of registrar, controller of examinations and director finance were also discussed.

The meeting approved the university’s annual reports for the year 2013-14 and 2015.

Talking to journalists after the meeting, Governor Achakzai praised the efforts made by Dr Sabir and his team to improve the university’s academic standards in a short period. Governor Achakzai also inaugurated the varsity’s new academic block and library.

Accompanied by former chief minister of the province Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, the governor visited the university’s city campus and visited different departments.
