SUKKUR, Nov 14: At least 20 people were arrested from five villages of Ubauro following the attack on a vehicle belonging to the Engro Chemical Company on Thursday.

Some five armed men attacked a vehicle of the company carrying urea. The attackers burst the tyres and broke the windscreens of the vehicle.

Later, the TPO, Ubauro, along with a heavy contingent of police raided five villages — Noor Hassan Shah, Jan Mohammad Bughio, Mohammad Bachal Samejo, Jam Mehrab Samejo and Mauj Ali Samejo — and arrested at least 20 people.

The names of some who have been arrested has been ascertained as Mohammad Shah, Sharif Bughio, Maqsood Bughio, Sachal Bughio, Mohammad Bachal Samejo, Nawab Samejo, and Sajawal Samejo.

On the other hand, the trade union in its meeting has condemned the arrests saying that police had arrested innocent people and we would protest against it.

While drivers of the vehicles have demanded that they be provided security.

DISPUTE UNRESOLVED: Meanwhile, the dispute between the Engro Chemical Company and 13 sacked employees of the company still remains unresolved after a lapse of four years.

SACHAL DAY: Boarders of the Ibn-i-Qasim House, Sukkur Public School, organized the Sachal Sarmast Day here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sukkur Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education chairman Noor Ahmad Kalhoro, who was the chief guest, said Sachal Sarmast gave a message of tolerance, love and service to the people through his poetry. He said his teachings were a source of inspiration for the people.

The principal of the school called upon the youth to follow the teachings of the poet.

A magazine — Though 2003-04 — brought out by the boarders was also unveiled on the occasion.

The magazine is the fifth annual publication of its kind, published by the house.

Earlier, the BISE chairman and the principal distributed prizes, shields and commendation certificates among students for their performance in Naat, Quiz and debate competitions.
