QUETTA: At least one passenger was killed and several others injured as a remote-controlled bomb hit the Quetta-bound Jaffar Express in Balochistan's Sibi district on Tuesday.

The passenger train travelling from Lahore to Quetta was in the Bakhtiarabad area when the bomb detonated, Levis sources said.

One passenger was killed and at least three others injured, while three bogies of the passenger train were derailed as a result of the attack. The victims were shifted to hospitals in Quetta.

Rescue and security teams reached the site of the attack and train services between Balochistan and other parts of the country were temporarily suspended after the attack.

Law enforcement personnel launched a search operation in the area following the attack.

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri condemned the blast in strong words and directed the concerned officials o take tough action against those involved in the attack.
