QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai has underlined the need for promoting girls’ education in the province and said that no society could develop without equipping its women with education.

Speaking at the seventh convocation ceremony of the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University (SBKWU) on Tuesday, he said Balochistan could only achieve its development goals by promoting girls’ education.

Balochistan Assembly Speaker Raheela Durrani, SBKWU Vice Chancellor Rukhasna Jabeen, Balo-chistan University Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Iqbal, Adviser to Chief Minister on Education Sardar Raza Muhammad Bareach, MPA Yasmeen Lehri and a large number of teachers and students attended the ceremony.

“It is a good indicator that people have been enrolling their daughters in universities,” the governor noted, saying that growing enrolment was indicative of a silent revolution.

Praising the performance of the SBK Women University, he said: “The varsity is producing well-educated, enlightened and moderate women in Balochistan.”

VC Rukhasna Jabeen in her address of welcome highlighted the achievements and future plans of the university.

The governor distributed medals, pens of honours and certificates among the graduating students.
