MARDAN: Pakistan People’s Party provincial president Senator Khanzada Khan has criticised the PTI-led coalition government for its failure to complete the project of Benazir Children Hospital in Mardan within its stipulated time.

He expressed these views here on Sunday after visiting the under-construction building of Benazir Children Hospital. He received several complaints from the residents of the district regarding slow pace of work on the health facility.

The PPP leader said that the project was inaugurated by the previous provincial government but despite lapse of eight years it could not be completed.

Mr Khan blamed the provincial government for slashing funds for the project and said that it was the main reason of slow pace of work on the children hospital.

The PPP leader said that cost of Benazir Children Hospital had been doubled by owing to slow pace of construction work. It also put unnecessary and extra burden on the national exchequer besides causing losses, he alleged.

“The PTI-led provincial government is spending funds on unimportant anti-mouse campaign instead of providing funds to public welfare projects like Benazir Children Hospital,” said Mr Khan. He added that treatment and health facilities were basic rights of common man but the provincial rulers were not paying heed to such public issues and problems.

The PPP provincial president said that they would soon raise the issue in the Senate for the welfare of general public so that they could soon be able to get benefited from the health facility.

Mr Khan urged that the provincial government to take up the issue seriously and avoid any further unnecessary delay. He threatened that the workers of PPP would be forced to take to the streets against if the government failed to meet their demand.
