LAHORE, Nov 15: Claims by Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) that Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans will be enjoying greater say in the selection proved wrong on Saturday when senior and junior probables were announced without his consultation.

PHF has announced the probables for the senior and junior training camps to be held at Karachi’s Hockey Club of Pakistan from Dec 5. PHF has called up 28 senior players and 40 juniors.

The senior and junior teams are to take part in three-team competition also involving Malaysia in Karachi in December.

The juniors will disperse on Dec 20 after playing in the tournament, while senior side will continue their training till their departure to Malaysia for Azlan Shah Cup in January.

Oltmans is to take charge from Dec 1 for a period of 13 months.

But PHF selected the probables before takeover by Oltmans which gives him no chance of picking the players which could have been done by holding open trials.
