PESHAWAR: Jamaat-i-Islami nazims from the village and neighbourhood councils in PK-8 constituency here on Saturday warned to quit the party if the provincial leadership forced its candidate to withdraw in favour of the PTI nominee.

Speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, 19 nazims of the village and neighbourhood councils said the party had given ticket to Fazlullah Daudzai to contest the by-elections on PK-8. They said the decision of awarding ticket to Mr Daudzai was taken by the party’s parliamentary board in the presence of its chief Sirajul Haq.

Now, the nazims said, they came to know through their sources that the party’s provincial chief Mushtaq Ahmed Khan intended to withdraw the JI candidate in favour of the PTI aspirant. They demanded of Sirajul Haq to take notice of the matter, otherwise they would quit the party.
