KARACHI: The city administration is set to launch its relief and facilitation centres next month to cope with the expected heatwave, which is feared to revisit the city in coming months as it did last year, officials said on Tuesday.
“We are ready to launch more than 500 facilitation or relief centres early next month,” said a senior official in the health ministry.
Those relief centres would be set up at public places, including parks, bus stands, railway stations, marketplaces, etc, which would provide shelter and water to people suffering from heat effects. “They would be our first defence against the heatwave,” he added.
Some 171 first response centres would be established in hospitals.
