One sentenced to death in Chitral

CHITRAL, Dec 29: The sessions judge of Chitral District, Azar Khan Naseem, has awarded capital punishment to Abdul Latif of Prayeet who had killed his wife on Jan 25 last year.

He has also been fined Rs100,000 under section 13 Arms Ordinance and a year rigorous imprisonment.

In another case, Anwar Sadaat of Damel Drosh has been sentenced to two-year rigorous imprisonment. He had tried to poison Chust Bibi wife of Mohammad Farooq, her son Zafar and daughter Gul Fida a year back.

SUSPENDED: Chitral Police Superintendent Mohammad Syed Khan has suspended a head constable Iqbal Karim for cheating a student and ordered an inquiry against him.

Karim had defrauded the student of Rs1,000 and beaten him up in the police station causing head injury. Mir Kalan  Khan, the sub-divisional police officer has been appointed as inquiry officer to further investigate the case.

POSTINGS: The medical superintendent of  DHQ  Hospital Chitral, Dr.Fazle Qayum has been appointed as executive district officer (EDO), Health Department. And Dr Nazir Ahmed (B-18), presently posted as deputy EDO, has been posted as medical superintendent of the hospital.

Dr Fida Azizuddin and Dr Sher Qayum have been posted at Tehsil hospitals Drosh and Booni respectively.
